The International Table Tennis Federation held a Gender and Diversity meeting in Durban to discuss the importance of promoting gender and diversity in their organisation. The meeting signalled a major step forward in the organisation’s dedication to promoting inclusiveness and diversity within the sport.
ITTF Foundation Programmes Team conducted a capacity building workshop for our Dream Building Fund projects to increase and strengthen participants’ knowledge on Monitoring and Evaluation to enhance the use of Table Tennis for Development.
ITTF Foundation in partnership with Pro Sport Development launch the Table Tennis for Development’ (TT4D) Handbook, as part of the collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (German Development Cooperation/GIZ on behalf of Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung/BMZ). This handbook provides content to demonstrate using table tennis to achieve specific UN Sustainable Development Goals in local, community-level contexts.
Originally hailing from Falougha in Lebanon, Mayssa was a former Lebanese table tennis champion who competed in many international championships. She coordinated several table tennis projects which contributed to the increase of female participation in table tennis across Lebanon.
The ITTF Foundation has launched its Strategic Plan for 2022-2025 with four strategic priority areas: Programmes, Organisation & Governance, Promotion, and Fundraising & Partnerships. This outlines the Foundation’s strategy, priorities, and organisational growth for the next three years, while some of the included actions have already been implemented during 2022. These four strategic priorities will be underpinned by 7 goals, 26 objectives, and 27 actions and key indicators.
2022 has been a stimulating year for us at the ITTF Foundation. This year has seen many challenges to progress on equality, justice, peace, and conflict resolutions in some countries and territories. However, together with the table tennis family, we have shown our solidarity and resilience to bring the peace-making power of table tennis through the 2022 World Table Tennis Day celebration, themed ‘Peace on the table’.
The ITTF Foundation is seeking to commission the development of a handbook/toolkit for coaches, small-scale event organisers, and youth demonstrating exercises, sessions, and case studies using table tennis for sustainable development, focusing on table tennis acts for the planet and climate awareness. This resource will be launched ahead of World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) 2023 with the theme “Think Sustainably, Act Now”.
