This year's Sports Business Award 2022 for Best Sports Governing Body Initiative was awarded to the ITTF Foundation for the ITTF Parkinson's World Table Tennis Championships (PWTTC).
High standards, it has been the phrase on the lips of everyone, players, coaches, officials, or whoever at the Andalucia 2022 World Para Table Tennis Championships in Granada; the level of play, the venue and general overall presentation has opened eyes wide.
The ITTF and its Foundation, along with the IOC through its Ukraine Solidarity fund, supported Ukraine, contributing to the team’s participation in Granada. Table Tennis United, through the ITTF Foundation, has been helping the Ukrainian team as it navigates through the ongoing crises caused by the war in its country.
Affective leadership is one of the DBF 20 projects initiated by Asociación Colombiana De Mujer y Deporte in Colombia. In Calarcá, a municipality in the eastern part of Quindío in Colombia, Asomujer y Deporte saw a significant risk of various social issues for local teenagers. Through table tennis training and education programme, the project aims to promote positive decision-making, body care, reduce gender-based violence and increase self-esteem in children under 16.
Fifita, and many other people with disabilities, grew up limiting their social contact because society is yet inclusive enough to provide equal chances and support networks around them. Our Dream Building Fund 20 project Smash Down Barriers addresses this challenge by creating an inclusive environment through table tennis training. The ITTF Foundation announced the 2024 World Parkinson’s Table Tennis Championships will take place in Hennebont, France. The event will welcome hundreds of players from more than 50 countries in October 2024.
Community Table Tennis (CTT) started in April 2021. The Dream Building Fund 2020 recipient, Pro Sport Development, focuses on using table tennis to teach soft and leadership skills and the concepts of gender, stereotypes, and violence. CTT aims to empower 250 children to become gender-sensitive, confront harmful gender-based stereotypes and impact gender perceptions of peers, family members and schoolteachers.
#TableTennisUnited, the fundraising campaign powered by the ITTF Foundation and sponsored by ITTF and WTT, has extended its support to the city of Mohyliv-Podilskyi, ensuring the training opportunity for the people affected by the current warfare.
