WTTD Promoter Initiative: 84 slots still open
The next World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) is all about female empowerment and gender equality. With this theme for the upcoming edition, we aim to make social changes for FEMpowerment through table tennis. To promote the cause and spread the passion for table tennis, we are looking for a total of 100 Promoters, one per country or territory, to locally promote the WTTD theme and their event.
The Promoters are expected to spread the WTTD mentality and the ideals of being popular, universal and inclusive, motivate others to join the cause as organisers or participants. The theme for the next WTTD 2021 aims to contribute to SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Fundamental human rights should be universal, and everybody should enjoy them. As girls and women constitute the largest group of disadvantaged people, we dedicate the next WTTD edition to this cause, and we are looking for like-minded individuals that are excited to make changes and leave a mark in this world.
In order to support the promotion of registered WTTD events, we offer the Promoters additional help to make the most of their celebrations on April 6. The Promoter Initiative includes a clothing kit, an ITTF Foundation certificate and 250€ for each successful applicant. While being aware that this might not be sufficient to cover all expenses, we seek to alleviate a part of the expenditures related to the organisation or promotion of the WTTD event.
The first Promoters have been selected for the Initiative: 16 candidates have successfully applied and met all eligibility requirements. The applicants have presented creative approaches and ambitious plans for how they want to encourage girls and women to play table tennis. They plan to increase female participation rates while also raising awareness of gender inequality. We congratulate the selected Promoters from the following countries and territories:

- Ecuador
- Fiji Islands
- Iran
- Ireland
- Kosovo
- Lebanon
- Netherlands
- Nigeria
- Uganda
- Venezuela
We are excited to support those passionate individuals to promote FEMpowerment through table tennis in their respective regions. A total of nearly 30 applications from 23 ITTF member countries and territories have reached us so far, and five more applications are currently under review for their eligibility. If your country or territory is still missing in the list above, we invite you to apply to become one of the Promoters. Applications are still open, as there is one slot for each country or region.
We welcome everybody to apply but we strongly encourage females to use this unique opportunity to organise and lead an event with the support from the Promoter Initiative.
