World Table Tennis Day 2025 Promoters Workshop 2: Fostering Diversity and Inclusion with Pongmasters!
Last Monday, the ITTF Foundation successfully conducted its second Promoters workshop for World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) 2025. Bringing together 27 out of the 32 dedicated WTTD 2025 Promoters, the workshop spotlighted the exciting collaboration with Pongmasters, our official technology partner for WTTD, equipping Promoters with handy tools to make table tennis more diverse and inclusive in communities worldwide!
Mapping Table Tennis Tables Worldwide
Co-led by Pongmasters, the session introduced Promoters to its innovative table tennis app—a comprehensive platform designed to connect players of all backgrounds, skill levels, and ages. The Pongmasters app offers engaging features such as a global mapping system for table tennis tables (follow this manual to map tables around you), matchmaking tools, ranking ladders, tournament creation, and seasonal achievements.
A key focus of the workshop was demonstrating how the Pongmasters app can support Promoters in mapping table tennis tables in their local communities. By adding locations, such as outdoor spaces, sports clubs, venues, bars, and schools, and tagging them with key accessibility details, including lighting conditions, wheelchair accessibility (these features were derived from our collaboration with Pongmasters last year), and other attributes such as playground availability, private access, covered spaces, school facilities, and wind conditions, Promoters gained a powerful tool to improve Diversity and Inclusion in the sport.
Promoters Mapping Contest
To encourage active participation in the mapping initiative, we launched the Promoters Mapping Contest, running until 23 April. The contest challenges Promoters to map as many accessible table tennis locations as possible, with the winner earning direct recognition as a WTTD 2026 Promoter. This contest will not only boost community engagement but also help build a bigger database of accessible playing locations worldwide.
Promoters’ Creative Celebration Plans
Beyond the collaboration with Pongmasters, the workshop also provided an opportunity for Promoters to share the status of their WTTD 2025 celebration plans. The ideas showed a wide range of creative, inclusive activities designed to engage different communities, and highlighted the various meanings of Diversity and Inclusion across different regions and cultural backgrounds. These plans include friendly and inclusive competitions bringing together diverse participants, intergenerational tournaments in nursing homes, virtual reality experiences engaging individuals with limited mobility, and partnerships with local schools, cultural clubs, and associations for people with disabilities to expand participation.
With the combined efforts of Pongmasters and our passionate Promoters adding on our preparation towards WTTD 2025, we are set to shape an extraordinary global celebration of table tennis—one that truly belongs to everyone!
