World Table Tennis ‘at Home’ Day 2020: Report and videos released

It was an absolutely different celebration, but as magnificent as in previous years: On 6 April 2020 people from 171 countries and regions were physically distanced, but socially united, to celebrate the World Table Tennis Day 2020!

Covid-19 changed everyone’s life as it did with World Table Tennis Day 2020 plans. Besides all obstacles, celebration was huge, thanks to 3882 passionate table tennis players world-wide who participated in the longest, craziest table tennis rally the world has ever seen.

Don’t miss the chance to read the WTTAHD report, which summarises the original plans, the transformation process to the digital celebration, where people digitally participated from, and which 31 countries and regions are new in the World Table Tennis Day family, too. It is natural, that the participant number is lower than in the years before as social gatherings were restricted in most parts of the world. However, we set a new record and achieved a very important milestone:

“I’m very proud that the World Table Tennis Day is celebrated by more and more people regarding the geographical distribution. 171 countries and regions joined! This is simply amazing! It also marks the achievement of one of the key outcomes of ITTF’s Strategic Plan 2018-2024 regarding promotion: Reaching active participants from 75% of ITTF member countries and independent regions.” Leandro Olvech, ITTF Foundation Director
