The First-ever Parkinson’s Showcase Event Begins Today Alongside the ITTF European Para Table Tennis Championships
Initiated by the ITTF Foundation to create more competitive opportunities for people with Parkinson’s and promote inclusivity through sport, the first Parkinson’s Showcase Event officially opens today in Helsingborg. The two-day event, running from 24-25 November, is held in parallel with the ITTF European Para Table Tennis Championships and just ahead of the 2025 World Table Tennis for Health Festival.
As the global Parkinson’s table tennis community grows and shows increasing enthusiasm for competitive play, the Showcase Event marks a significant milestone in the Foundation’s mission to offer more competition pathways for players with Parkinson’s at the international level, as one of the initiatives that foster health, visibility, connection, and a sense of belonging. Beyond competition, it also highlights table tennis as a meaningful tool for improved quality of life, confidence, and social engagement.
The aim of the Parkinson’s Showcase Event is not to integrate Parkinson’s players into the Paralympic pathway, but to establish a parallel platform for recognition, awareness, and participation. The ITTF Foundation plans to expand this model globally, working towards hosting Parkinson’s Showcase Events alongside continental Para table tennis competitions in the coming years.
A New Opportunity for Competition and Connection
At the Parkinson’s Showcase Event, eight players—four men and four women—will compete in singles over two days, gaining the chance to showcase their skills on an international stage while demonstrating the positive impact of regular physical activity on well-being. (Check the player list here)
Taking place at the same venue as the World Table Tennis for Health Festival, this tournament will set the tone for an exciting week in Helsingborg:
- 24 November: Group stage (round robin)
- 25 November: Final group matches followed by finals between the top two players

Join the Health Festival
Following the Showcase Event, the 2025 World Parkinson’s Table Tennis Championship will be held from 26–30 November as part of the World Table Tennis for Health Festival, uniting athletes, coaches, medical professionals, and supporters in a week dedicated to celebrating health and the power of table tennis.
