Take the SWAN Needs Assessment Survey: Help Advance the Future of Table Tennis for Health

The SWAN project (Spin for Well-being: Active lifestyles through therapeutic table tennis for individuals with Neurodegenerative diseases) is launching its Needs Assessment Survey! The ITTF Foundation invites coaches, trainers, sport clubs, health professionals, and ANYONE interested to share their insights and experiences to help us design impactful, inclusive table tennis for health programmes.

Who Should Participate?

The survey is part of the SWAN project’s Work Package 2: Strategic Research and Analysis, led by the University of Ljubljana, in collaboration with the ITTF Foundation and KTG Research & Innovation. We are seeking responses primarily from:

  • Coaches, trainers, and instructors who work in or are interested in health-focused table tennis programmes.
  • Sport club owners and managers, especially those already offering or interested in offering sessions for people with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, or other neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs).
  • Health professionals who work closely with individuals affected by NDDs.
  • Anyone interested in knowing more about and taking action to advance this TT4Health topic.

Why Your Input Matters

With the input and experience shared by these key stakeholders and table tennis practice implementers, the survey findings will significantly help us:

  • Understand stakeholders’ awareness of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
  • Identify barriers to inclusive and therapeutic table tennis practices.
  • Define the conditions necessary for implementing effective programmes.

By completing the survey, you will directly contribute to the project and support us in developing:

  • A tailored table tennis intervention curriculum designed for individuals with NDDs
  • Training materials for coaches, clubs, and health professionals on how to effectively use table tennis to support people with NDDs, with the goal of helping reduce their symptoms
  • A comprehensive implementation handbook for delivering therapeutic table tennis programmes tailored to the needs of people with NDDs

The survey only takes 10 minutes, but your contribution will make a lasting impact on the development of inclusive sport practices that use table tennis to improve lives.
