#TableTennisUnited Fund Bagged Bronze in Sports Business Awards 2021

A joint effort between the ITTF Foundation, ITTF and World Table Tennis, #TableTennisUnited Fund provides financial and equipment support to the worldwide table tennis community during Covid-19. The campaign has supported 108 initiatives and individuals across the globe since the beginning of the pandemic and has been awarded Bronze in Sports Business Awards 2021, in the category of Best Covid-19 Response by a Sport.

Petra Sörling, the newly elected ITTF President has officially accepted the award from the hands of Table Tennis England Chair Sandra Deaton and Director Ray James, who received the award on behalf of the ITTF Foundation in the Sports Business Awards 2021 ceremony in London.

At the heart of the ITTF Group’s vision is to make table tennis accessible to all, for life and future generations. To achieve this, the sport must make it its mission to focus its efforts towards three key areas: people, planet and prosperity. Thanks to the ITTF Group and 57 generous donors worldwide, #TableTennisUnited Fund is a living legacy, a proof of our effort in standing together with the table tennis community in the most uncertain times. - Petra Sörling.

Launched in June 2020, #TableTennisUnited Fund has since then helped local clubs to resume training for future para players, and allowed non-for-profit organisations to continue the training sessions that keep children and youth off the street. Professional table tennis players and ITTF Member Associations have also benefited from the Fund, as the pandemic has proven its undiscriminating nature and is affecting all humankind regardless of who we are and where we come from.

With the #TableTennisUnited Fund, we stand strong with the table tennis community. It has been proven over and over again in history that we are stronger together. As the virus continues to spread and news of another variant unfolds, we wish to send out the message that no one is alone, #TableTennisUnited Fund will continue to send help where it is needed the most. - Leandro Olvech, ITTF Foundation Director.

In addition to the Bronze, the ITTF Foundation was also shortlisted in the Sports Diversity Award and the Most Successful Sports Event Broadcast category, the latter for the 2021 World Table Tennis Day.
