SWAN Project Partners Reconnect to Advance Research and Communication
On 16 April 2025, the SWAN project partners came together for the second online coordination meeting, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that drives this innovative initiative. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on recent progress, refine our shared goals, and plan the next concrete steps in supporting individuals with neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) through table tennis.
Strengthening Communication & Dissemination
A central point of discussion was the project’s Communication & Dissemination efforts. Led by the ITTF Foundation, this work package ensures that the project’s progress and impact reach diverse audiences across Europe and beyond. During the meeting, the ITTF Foundation team presented practical tools for tracking and evaluating communication outputs, making sure that our outreach is not only visible but also strategic and measurable.
Advancing Research: Focus on Work Package 2
The focus of the meeting also covered the current phase of the project: Work Package 2 – Strategic Research & Analysis, led by University of Ljubljana. This important stage lays the foundation for evidence-based implementation, with three key deliverables in the pipeline for the next quarter:
- A scientific literature review of past publications examining table tennis as a therapeutic tool for people with NDDs.
- An inventory of good and best practices from across the globe that highlight effective use of table tennis in health-focused settings.
- A needs assessment form designed to identify the requirements and barriers in implementing table tennis sessions for individuals with NDDs.
We are excited to dive deeper into the subject matter, and we warmly welcome contributions—especially insights and examples of best practices from around the world. (If you are interested, please contact us at info@foundation.ittf.com)
Looking Ahead
As we continue this journey toward promoting health, inclusion, and well-being through sport, we are inspired by the commitment and energy of all our partners. The SWAN project is a movement to harness the healing power of table tennis to improve lives across Europe.
