ITTF Foundation Strategic Plan 2026–2029: For the Next Phase of Growth

After years of growth, consolidation, and reflection, the ITTF Foundation is entering a new chapter with the publication of its Strategic Plan 2026–2029. It’s a roadmap built on everything achieved so far and a shared ambition to create even greater impact in the years ahead.

Reflecting on Our First Strategic Cycle

Building on activities that began in 2019, the previous 2022–2025 strategy marked a defining phase in the Foundation’s development. During this period, the ITTF Foundation evolved from an emerging initiative into a structured and increasingly recognised actor in the Sport for Development sector.

Across this strategic cycle, the Foundation achieved significant growth in both reach and impact:

  • Programmes reached 189 countries and territories
  • More than 400,000 people engaged
  • 2,411 World Table Tennis Day celebrations took place worldwide
  • 3 World Table Tennis for Health Festivals hosted
  • 67 ITTF Member Associations involved
  • 28 projects supported through the TT4Change programme
  • 11 multi-year partners secured
  • 5 grants received
  • 3 awards earned

Alongside the growth, the Foundation strengthened the way it works. Individual activities evolved into a clearer programme structure through TT4Health, TT4All, and TT4Change, creating a stronger framework for long-term impact.

The Foundation also introduced stronger monitoring and reporting systems to better measure impact, while integrating legacy initiatives into major ITTF and WTT events to extend engagement beyond standalone activities.

Internally, important progress was made as governance structures were formalised, operational systems strengthened, and roles across the ITTF Group further clarified. At the same time, partnerships evolved from shorter collaborations into stronger multi-year relationships, helping build greater sustainability and long-term trust.

Today, the ITTF Foundation is increasingly recognised not only within the table tennis ecosystem, but also as a credible and trusted actor in the wider Sport for Development landscape.

A Natural Next Step in 2026-2029

The Strategic Plan 2026–2029 is not a reset; it is a continuation and evolution of the work already underway. The Foundation remains committed to its vision: Table Tennis. For All. For a Better Life.

And to its mission of using the power of table tennis to create sustainable social change.

The next strategic cycle will focus on strengthening impact through four key areas:

  • Programmes — continuing to strengthen TT4Health, TT4Change, and TT4All while expanding initiatives that showcase the social value of table tennis.
  • Promotion — increasing visibility through storytelling, digital engagement, and inclusive communication.
  • Organisation & Governance — strengthening systems, people, and structures to support long-term development.
  • Fundraising & Partnerships — building sustainable income streams and long-term collaborations.

Three strategic priorities will further guide this work:

  • Growing impact in key markets, particularly China, the United States, and India, while maintaining global reach.
  • Strengthening fundraising capacity with increased focus on institutional grants and sustainability.
  • Deepening collaboration with ITTF Member Associations and partners to deliver stronger programmes and wider impact.

Looking Ahead

The past four years have shown what is possible when sport is used with purpose. The next phase is about going further, reaching more communities, strengthening systems, and ensuring that table tennis continues creating meaningful and lasting social change.

We are grateful to all partners, ITTF Member Associations, supporters, and communities who have been part of this journey so far. The foundations are in place. Now, the next chapter begins.
