Call for Applications: “Table Tennis Manual: Think Sustainably, Act Now”

Deadline: 4 January 2023, 2 pm CET (Berlin Time)

The ITTF Foundation is seeking to commission the development of a handbook/toolkit for coaches, small-scale event organisers, and youth demonstrating exercises, sessions, and case studies using table tennis for sustainable development, focusing on table tennis acts for the planet and climate awareness. This resource will be launched ahead of World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) 2023 with the theme “Think Sustainably, Act Now”.

About the ITTF Foundation

The ITTF Foundation is a global sport for development organisation using table tennis to empower communities to enhance health, inclusion, and socio-economic development of people around the world, in alignment with targeted UN Sustainable Development Goals and development priorities across our member associations.

Project overview

The ITTF Foundation supports and executes inclusive, sustainable projects using table tennis as a tool for development and peace through various initiatives at the grassroots level, aligned to specific UN SDGs linked to social development outcomes at the community level. Sustainability, People, Planet and Prosperity, will be taking centre stage during the 2023 World Table Tennis Day “Think Sustainably, Act Now” and beyond.

    • Target group: ITTF Member Associations and Continental Federations, WTTD 2023 organisers, coaches, athletes, clubs, and project leaders across the globe

    • Content focus: The content serves as a practical, simple entry point for the “target group” to implement carefully designed “table tennis for healthy people, planet and organisations” sessions and exercises to maximise the non-sport benefits of table tennis towards sustainability.

    • Scope: The ITTF Foundation seeks the services of a consultant to collate the best exercises/sessions used by practitioners to develop a handbook which can be used by the “target group” wanting to use sport-based exercises to address environmental solutions within their communities.

    • The Handbook will be reviewed and validated by the ITTF Foundation team and ITTF Group Sustainability Manager.

    • The ITTF Foundation will provide access to existent table tennis as a tool for development material and will actively assist in developing the handbook on an ongoing basis.
