Following a short break, play at WTT Youth Series events returned, the destination being the northern region of Austria; seven intense days of action, proceedings in Linz concluded today, Tuesday 3rd May.
#PeaceOnTheTable was spread all over the world in the framework of World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) 2022. Promoters did a fantastic job hosting events focused on resolving conflicts and making peace in communities across the five continents. Event organisers and ITTF Member Associations (MAs) showed the strength of table tennis in schools, towns, and cities, and thousands of fans following our 24-hour online stream through our different platforms.
Four Ukrainian players will be participating in the WTT Star Contender Doha 2022. Pesotska Margaryta, Bilenko Tetiana, Gaponova Ganna and Zhmudenko Yaroslav arrived in Qatar and will start competing on Friday 25 March 2022.
Since its launch in June 2020, the #TableTennisUnited Fund had supported over 118 initiatives globally. Albeit we have entered 2022 with the unfortunate news of Omicron, #TableTennisUnited Fund remains the silver lining to the Covid-19 crisis, sending help to the worldwide table tennis community thanks to 57 donors and the support of the ITTF Group.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original event, the ITTF Group has declared 2021 and 2022 the biennial of Ping Pong Diplomacy. We find ourselves halfway through the commemoration as 2021 is coming to an end, while a new page of Ping Pong Diplomacy has just begun.
The #TableTennisUnited Fund has supported 109 initiatives worldwide since its launch in June 2020. With the generous donation of 57 donors and the ITTF Group, a total of 406,428 USD (and counting!) is raised and has been distributed to help those that took a hard hit by the pandemic in the table tennis community.
Sport is known to be one of the greatest motivators for children and youth around the world. While COVID-19 has caused huge hurdles for table tennis organisations and clubs to keep their young audience engaged, the #TableTennisUnited Fund is sending help to those in need, where the pandemic seems to have taken its toll.
Thanks to the generous donors worldwide and the ITTF Group, #TableTennisUnited Fund has supported over 100 initiatives globally since the beginning of the pandemic, and it will continue to be the backbone of the table tennis community, for better and for worse.
Three Afghan athletes will compete in WTT Star Contender Doha and the Asian Table Tennis Championships when the two events start later this month at the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar.
Thanks to the generous doners worldwide and the ITTF Group, the #TableTennisUnited Fund has helped local clubs in the Philippines and Ghana to keep youngsters off the street and in school.
